38A AMERICAN SCHOOL, LATE 19TH C/EARLY 20TH C.: Distant Haycart Along a Sun Filtered Path, W/C mtd. on B, 9 1/2" X 15 1/4", no visible signature, illegible pencil inscription and illegible Milwaukee period gallery frame label on ca. 1895 possibly original molding verso. Note: Although executed in a somewhat monochromatic palette and of subtle subject matter, this may be one of the strongest pictures we have offered this year. Reminiscent of the earliest work of the Ten, it combines feathery touch with lavender and blue highlights while retaining Barbizon roots. Estimate: $600.00 - $900.00.
