93 ANTIQUE HAND CARVED ELEPHANT TUSK IVORY 4 PANEL TABLE SCREEN: On carved rosewood stand, with hand perforated rosewood decorations. Overall size, 21" H x 24" W. This table screen is carved in bas-relief on the face side, depicting the 8 gods of China & a poem by the artist is carved in scrimshaw on the reverse. In June 1978, the screen was identified by the Hong Kong Art Craft Merchants Association as to having been made during the Tao Kuang period of the Ching-Dynasty, between 1821 and 1850. 96 ELEPHANT TUSK IVORY REPLICA OF EMPEROR'S ROYAL FAMILY, "SMILING FACE": Two deck yacht with 4 ballooning sails carved in scrimshaw to read "Have a Good Trip". On the upper deck are 13 carved ivory figures representing the Empress & her attendants. On the lower deck are another 16 carved ivory figures representing the Royal Children, their Governess & attendants. The yacht is inlaid with 102 cabochon gemstones, is 48" long, 17 1/5" wide, 49 1/2" high & weights about 60 pounds. A black lacquered rosewood base raises the overall height to 59", adding about 60 more pounds. In August 1984, the yacht was identified by the Arts of Asia Antiquities Association as to having been made during the Chieng Lung period of the Ching Dynasty, between 1738 & 1795, & was appraised by them as "priceless". 20,000

The richly vivid colors put the observer in the same room with the happy peasant family. Several art critics agree that on the Zampighi scale of 1-10, this rates an 11 or 12.
