De Tigage and dated 1946, encased in worn gilded frame, 26'' x 24'', Leone Muller worked with the Secret Information Service and with The British Secret Information Service. Received the ''King's Medal for Service in the Cause of Freedom''. Was a Captain in the Luxembourg Army and was accredited with the British and U.S. War Crimes Branches. Traveled constantly in Germany, in uniform. Attended war crimes trial at Belsen and brought home many missing persons who had been deported by the Germans. Brought back to Luxembourg the dead body of the chief war criminal of that country, Gauleiter Gustav Simon. In January 1946 was only female member from Luxembourg to be sent to the Allied Control Council of Germany. Was completely fluent in Luxembourgeois, English, German and French. Read Spanish, Italian and Dutch. She retired from the United Nations after 28 years and spent her time translating many books on philosophy, psychology and religion.
