Overhanging lid with decorative metal hinges, raised on shaped bracket feet also inlaid with bone, lock but no key, interior lined with tapestry type fabric, approx. 10 7/8'', 6 1/2'', 4 3/4''h. Per consignor - this amazing box was inherited from her great uncle who was the Mexican Cultural Ambassador of Literature to Spain in approx. 1899-1900. He was a famous writer who was immortalize on a stamp. 900
