MODEL 1850 FOOT OFFICERS SWORD & SCABBARD: Pre Civil War era import model 1850 foot officers sword & scabbard. Brass hilt shows great age patina with solid wood grip. Guard has numbers 15083 stamped on edge. Blade has bright finish with scattered minor areas of age stain. European markings near guard. Blade measures 30 1/2'' in length. Original leather washer. Original all metal scabbard has pitting throughout and dark age color. Many of these swords were imported to the South during the Civil War, but cannot document this sword as confederate. From a Florida estate and sold with Confederate Veterans magazine dated October 1914.
