Joseph Brown, governor of Georgia during the Civil War. Julius was a color corporal of Co. A in the Georgia Cadets, a group of Georgia Military Institute students organized May 1864 and surrendered May of 1865. Inscription on bowl reads ''Present to Julius L. Brown, Chairman Reception Committee, October 24 1879.'' Also inscribed is a crest with owls and phrase ''Quod hoc sibi vult!''. Trophy is marked with Gorham hallmarks, Sterling A86.
