White (and sold: American Art Association, NYC, March 2-3, 1927, lot 187), Owen Burns, Sarasota, Florida, thence by descent. Illustrated in ''Felix Ziem, 1821-1911'' by Burdin-Hellebranth, p.207. Owen Burns was an important local figure and prominent land developer. He was the builder of Ca d'Zan, the Ringling's Sarasota mansion, now part of the Ringling Museum of Art.
CONDITION: Small crack in board right midmargin 2'', several minor spots of inpaint, light skimming in sky.

24 Click for larger picture ROMAN, Victor, (French, 1937-1995): 2 piece Bronze lot, Abstract/biomorphic figures, signed, the larger of the two measures 9 1/4'' h x 4'' d x 4'' w, signed Roman, and is titled ''Couple'', piece is accompanied by a photo of the artist with the life size version of Couple and Victor standing next to it, along with a letter written by his wife Dana to the consignors wife and signed by Dana and Victor; the smaller of the two appears to be a biomorphic bronze ashtray measuring 1 1/4'' h x 6 1/4'' w x 3 1/2'' d, signed and dated 1981. Directly from the artist who was a family friend. 700
