213 Click for larger picture BRUESTLE, George, (American, 1872-1939): Forest Clearing by the River, Oil/Board, 8'' x 10'', signed lower left, encased in custom gilded and painted frame, 12'' x 14 1/4''.
CONDITION: Some paint and gilt loss to frame, cracklure and warping, painting needs cleaning, partial paint flecking and loss in lower right corner.

216 Click for larger picture HERTER, Albert, (American 1871-1950): Mural Studies, the upper gouache mural study depicts a scene in classical Roman times with figures in the city, the board size is 5 5/8'' x 17 7/8'', actual scene size of the right study is 2 1/4'' x 8 3/4'', the left scene size is 2'' x 5''. The center is a pencil drawing of a chariot driver and figures, approximately 2 1/2'' x 13''. The bottom mural study board is 5 3/8'' x 18'' and depicts middle eastern scenes with elephants parading and a bizarre on the street in the city, right scene size is 2 1/4'' x 8 1/4'', the scene on the left is 2'' x 5''. The bottom board is signed verso KAROLY and ZSANTO. All pieces are affixed to a backboard which measures 14'' x 18'' overall, unframed.
CONDITION: The middle picture drawing has some tape repairs, no visible signature. The upper and lower boards are creased. Sold as is.

CONDITION: Needs cleaning, several minor abrasions with no paint loss.

CONDITION: Paper creasing along bottom margin with partial paper loss in lower left corner, several areas of handling creasing, several small tears in upper margin, horizontal crease running through the image roughly 1/3 into the image from the bottom, toned, small tear in left margin, sparse, scattered, pale foxing, some minor scattered staining.
