MODERN PERSIAN HANDKNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5' 3'' x 9' 11'': This rug has a thick pile and is most likely a tribal/village weaving. The size is consistent with a gallery or corridor rug, made for a wider hallway where pictures of family would have been hung (gallery). The colors are reds, blues, ivories and a brownish color in the main field that originally was an eggplant color. The large medallion of the field is bordered by four ivory then red corners that frame the design. The main border has a pretty blue ground that is edged with guard borders of red. The rug has some color changes that are the result of differences in the color of the wool being used. This abrash (color change) is not unusual in village rugs. Only condition issue is the rug is slightly wider at one end, otherwise good.
CONDITION: The rug is slightly wider at one end, otherwise good.
