Thomas Ford to rank of Colonel in the 34th Regiment Illinois Militia. Signed by Gov. Ford & Thompson Campbell, Secretary of State, dated Sept. 19, 1844. Note seam tears. In same frame is a order from Colonel Chambers to Capt. John McDonald to have 50 men ready. 2) Draft notice dated April 8, 1865. 3) Mexican War Announcement of victory in 2 battles. Note heavy folds and seam tears. 4) March 1865 appointment of Harrison Weltzhimer to Corporal, Co. K, 28th Regt. Illinois & 1866 discharge of Weltzhimer. 5) Assorted pensions, deeds and other items.
CONDITION: Note folds and other condition issues with paper.

216 Click for larger picture CIVIL WAR COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY PISTOL: 44 cal., matching serial numbers with exception of wedge 100328, dated to 1863. US inspector markings on metal. Marked with standard New York address mark on barrel, Colt's Patent on frame and 1855 date on cylinder. Nice action, cocks and rotates fine. 8'' barrel, 14'' overall.
CONDITION: Scratches and marks typical on these battle used pistols.

217 Click for larger picture MODEL 1841 REMINGTON MISSISSIPPI RIFLE: .54 caliber with traces of Remington Herkimer stamp on lockplate, US 1853 stamp clear. 33'' barrel held in by 2 brass barrel bands held by spring. Brass patchbox and buttplate, walnut stock. Incorrect but period cleaning rod. Previous owners initials TE crudely carved into stock, possible soldier who carried this rifle. The rifles were known to be carried by Confederate soldiers as well. 49 1/4'' overall.
CONDITION: One band spring not functioning, repair to stock at tang, trigger loose but functions, typical scratches and dings for this wartime example.

217A Click for larger picture CONVERTED MODEL 1873 SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR CARBINE: Well marked 45-70 caliber Model 1873 US Springfield, obscured serial number. Many of the model 1873 rifles were restocked and cut down to the carbine dimensions. 24 3/4'' barrel with proof marks. 1884 dated cartouch and P in oval on stock. Action works fine.
CONDITION: Note alligatoring to stock, no cleaning rod, o carrying ring, typical scratches and dings to be expected.

CONDITION: Note fine peppering to blade, scabbard peppering with some finish flake loss.

Metal urn finial and metal cross guard with floral decoration. Plain wood grip. Similar to French small sword page 131 ''Swords of the American Revolution'' by George Newmann. Blade 15 1/4'', 21 3/4''.
CONDITION: Note missing knucklebow, silver overspray on grip, blade has been shortened and show surface rust and pitting.
