MODERN PAK PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL PRAYER RUG, 2' 7'' x 4' 4'': This prayer rug has a beautiful design that is also outstanding because of the way the weaver used the colors with the motifs. The deep blue ground of the mihrab makes the columns and the hanging lamp really stand out. The hanging lamp has a rich red color that isn't used in the rest of the rug. The top of the mihrab and the borders use a soft palette of colors that makes the center field all the more dramatic. The border next to the field or mihrab has Kufic inscriptions which may or may not be legible. Many weavers are illiterate and copy writing without knowing what they are saying, but the script is another attractive design element. This rug would be a great conversation piece for your home.
