2 Click for larger picture BODE, Johann Elert, (German, 1747-1826): Celestial map of the constellation Virgo and surrounding constellation. Plate 14 of his definitive work Uranographia published in 1801. Hand tinted engraving features Hydra, Crater, Corvus, Sextans and Virgo. Bode was the Director of the Berlin Observatory. Sight size 20 1/2'' x 41 1/4'', framed and matted 34 1/4'' x 55 1/4''.
CONDITION: Note separation line in center, one page overlaps other and both pages taped to matt with archival tape. Edges of paper have period loss and uneven, not seen in frame and under matt.

50 Click for larger picture WIEDEMANN, Guillermo (Wilhelm Egon), (German/Colombian, 1905-1969): ''Purificacion'', Depicting Kneeling Female Nude in a Tropical Forest Landscape Reminiscent of Gauguin, Oil on Canvas, 31 1/2'' x 26'', signed lower left and dated 1941, titled lower right, painted frame, 37'' x 31 1/4''. This picture was purchased directly from the artist in Bogota, by the consignor's father. Wiedemann was a German born artist, arriving in Colombia in 1939; he is in many museums, and there is much information available on his life.
CONDITION: Several very minor flea bite flecks, small nail hole in upper right corner, barely visible, could use cleaning.
