211 Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 49'' x 30'': This attractive Navajo rug looks like it is from the Crystal weaving center. The rugs palette of grey, black, red, and white are used to create an interesting geometric configuration of squares and crosses that make up one large central design. There are four small running dog motifs in the four corners of the field that may represent the four corners of the Navajo Nations. The red border and red small diamonds make the rug stand out.
CONDITION: Some light soiling and wear, but generally good condition.

211A Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 60'' x 38'': This Navajo has the colors grey, black, and white predominantly used in Two Grey Hills rugs but the addition of red and orange point to neighboring Crystal area of weaving. The rugs central motifs are two diamonds within diamonds. There is a smaller brown and red stepped diamond surrounded by a black and white small narrow diamonds that form a larger diamond. This is surrounded by a stepped block motif to form the outer diamond of the field. There are red and brown saw tooth borders on the sides and red and brown straight borders on the ends of the rug. The orange color appears in smaller zig zag motifs that may represent lightning.
CONDITION: This rug has some light soiling and the wool has ''fuzzed'' from one color over another.

212 Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 34 1/2'' x 45 1/2'': This Navajo rug has a well-proportioned, well executed design of diamond medallions formed by stepped blocks of red, black, and brown on a grey field. The center row of seven attached diamonds is flanked by half diamonds on the sides of the field. The field is edged by borders of red and black straight lines. Orange is introduced in the selvedge and tassels of this attractive rug.
CONDITION: Some light soiling as well as fuzzing.

212A Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 30 1/4'' x 30 3/4'': This nearly square small Navajo has a mottled white field with two saw toothed edge diamond medallions in colors of black, red, and beige. The central diamonds are flanked by half diamonds on the sides of the field. In between the two are small medallions in the same colors to complete the overall design of the rug.
CONDITION: Some light soiling as well as fuzzing of the surface.
200
213 Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 34 1/2'' x 48 3/4'': This Navajo rug has an interesting central design of two attached octagonal medallions in colors of red and brown with a black latch-hook central motif. The points of the medallions have triangles that look like small sails going in every direction of the rug. There are also four motifs found in the four corners of the field, probably symbolizing the four parts of the Navajo nation. The rug has three straight line borders in colors of red, white, and black to frame the field.
CONDITION: This rug has a small hole in one of the central medallions and some light soiling, wear, and stains.

213A Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 31'' x 45 1/2'': This rug has an unusual look to it because the center has a stepped design of diamonds done mostly in neutral colors of white, beige, and grey. The diamonds are partly outlined in red and sometimes black to give them more definition but it looks like the design was hard for the weaver to control. The shapes and sizes of the diamonds and the size of the rows vary so much that it looks like the design got away from the weaver completely. However, the final effect is that the design has a sort of stained glass look to it that is very appealing. The border, unlike the field, is a very controlled and concise running dog border in red and black outlined by white. The border's strong colors and design frame the soft center of the rug in a way that makes this a very attractive piece.
CONDITION: Some light soiling and fuzzing.
300
214 Click for larger picture CIRCA 1930'S NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG, 31 1/4'' x 57'': This interesting Navajo has the neutral color palette that is found in rugs woven in the Two Grey Hills region. The grey field has two joined block stepped diamond medallions with white grounds. Each has a central stepped block design in black and white. The medallions also have a black lattice / latch hook design around their edges. This motif makes the medallions stand out. In between the two diamond medallions are Vee shaped designs in white. The borders of the rug have a stepped design in black, white and a faded pale yellow/beige. All in all, an attractive rug.
CONDITION: There is some soiling and light stains that show at the edges of the field.
