89A | SEMI-ANTIQUE TURKISH HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4' x 6': This rug has a traditional Bergama design with non-traditional colors. There are three eight sided medallions with latch hook borders. Look for small birds in the medallions. Also of interest are the four paisleys on the sides of the field and the motifs that look like seahorses. The main border has a serrated leaf and wine glass border that is found on rugs from Turkey, The Caucasus, and northern Iran. This is an interesting, good looking rug. CONDITION: One side's edge need repair, but otherwise good. |

93A | MODERN INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'5'' x 12'7'': This pretty room size rug has a pattern like a central medallion design antique Bijar. The large diamond shaped medallion with its dense flower, leaf and vine red rust background sits on an open ivory field. The serrated edge of the medallion helps to emphasize the contrast between the busy medallion and the serenity of the plain open field. The corners then pick up the colors and motifs of the center of the rug as the red rust main border also does. From the Estate of John Desmond and his wife Janina Hardoon Desmond. CONDITION: Condition is good with some slight stains on the ivory background of the field. |
