ANTIQUE CAUCASIAN OR N.W. PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4'5'' x 6'8'': This beautiful rug has a well-drawn design of geometrically shaped rows of medallions of various colors including salmon, yellow, rust-red, medium and pale blue on a midnight blue field. On the blue field are small stylized trees of life done in the same colors. The main border of the rug has the traditional serrated leaf and wine glass pattern and the two guard borders have another typical design of flower heads bordered by a vine and leaf pattern. This rug is a wonderful example of a true artist who happened to also be a weaver of rugs.
CONDITION: The only drawback to this rug in that both of the ends have suffered some loss and some of the side selvedge needs to be redone.
