CONDITION: Hinge mounted with tape in upper margin.

1129 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35YR. OLD INDO PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8' x 10': This rug has an interesting juxtaposition of geometric and curvilinear design motifs. The striking red field has a large round white ground central medallion and two half round outlines of medallions, one on either end of the field. The central medallion has design motifs of pastel flowers, leaves, and palmettes, while the two half medallions have more geometric diamond shaped palmettes with angular vines and leaves. The rest of the field has some complete plants, birds, and geometric designs done in pastel colors. The white ground border helps to frame the field and make the velvety looking red center look very rich and inviting.
CONDITION: There appear to be some slight stains or soiling on the border of the rug.

1143 Click for larger picture HAND KNOTTED WOOL, 20-30 YRS OLD, SINO-PERSIAN AUBUSSON DESIGN RUG, 5' 10'' x 8' 11'': This rug has an attractive Aubusson pattern that was woven in China using Persian knots. The black background of the central field has a large white ground oval medallion that has four smaller white medallions one on each side. These smaller medallions go from the field into the white ground border of the rug and like the main medallion are outlined with a pinkish beige ribbon like edge. In the center of each medallion are found sprays of realistically drawn roses in shades of pink and red. These same flowers are also found in the field of the rug intertwined with leafy vines in the same pinkish beige as the edges. The outer border of the rug is a solid black. Condition is good. 750
