1131 | ANTIQUE PERSIAN SAROUK HAND KNOTTED WOOL PALACE SIZE RUG, APPROX. 10' x 17': This very large very old Sarouk has a midnight blue filed which is uncommon in most rugs from this center of weaving. The vast majority of Sarouks have a red field. The field is covered with the typical motifs found in Sarouks, the large sprays of flowers of different types fill in the field. The large main border has the red ground usually found as the main color of the rug. CONDITION: This rug has been recently cleaned, preserved, and mothproofed at Tinney Rugs. The rug is very worn and has been re-dyed in some areas. Also there are some holes and tears that need attention. |

1140 | SEMI-ANTIQUE PAKISTANI BOKHARA HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUNNER, 2'8'' X 11'5'': This runner has another traditional Bokhara pattern of a single row of diamond shaped guls each in its own panel with a silky red background. This motif is repeated the length of the rug. The multiple small borders with an outer red edge complete the design of the rug. The silkiness of the wool makes shading more obvious, but many people like this effect. There is a small signature cartouche on this rug. CONDITION: There is a small hole near the corner of one end of the rug. |
