14TH CENTURY JAPANESE NAGAMITSU WAKIZASHI SWORD: Circa late 14th Century from the Osafune School, blade by listed National Treasure of Japan swordsmith Nagamitsu. Bronze kashirsa, cloth tsukato, ray skin same, figural menuki. Pierced tsuba with landscape and house decoration. Blade with blunted tip measures 23 3/4'' from hilt. Black lacquer saya, cloth sageo. Overall measures 36'' long. Sold with frame certification dated 1953 from the Japanese Government Sword Appraisal Committee.
CONDITION: Blade with some chips near blunted point, well worthy of restoration.
