APPROX. 20-35 YR. OLD ROMANIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4' x 5'11'': Although this rug was woven in Romania it has a traditional Persian design that consists of an overall pattern of pastel colored palmettes, leaves, and flowers linked by vines and tendrils. Placed here and there among the foliage are found various types of birds. The ivory main field is edged by raspberry red guard borders and a medium blue main border that has more birds and palmettes. There is a signature cartouche found at one end in the middle of the outer edge. CONDITION: The ends and fringes show signs of wear and this rug would sparkle after a good cleaning. |
