ANTIQUE PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'2'' x 6'1'': We believe this to be a Kurdish Persian rug. It has an amalgam of various archaic design patterns, including a Herati design, which have been put together to create an interesting and different combination. The deep salmon colored field makes a good background for the blues, reds, white, and black colored motifs that cover it. The white ground main border also has a striking design of a black continuous angled vine that has large flower heads that are all ''growing'' in the same direction. CONDITION: There is some color run, the pile is evenly low, the sides have been re-done and there are some small old repairs. Also there is a dramatic color change at one end which is how the rug was made originally. |

ANTIQUE PERSIAN AFSHAR HAND KNOTTED WOOL BAG FACE, 1'11'' x 2'7'': This pretty little bag face is a type that has its own niche of collectors and you can see why. The balance of colors and design make this a desirable work of art. The central medallion, which encompasses the field, has ram's horn edge curling all the way around its medium blue center that rests on a white outer frame. The dark blue beyond that has four little motifs in its corners. The varied color borders including the white ground main border with its repeating star design use the same harmonious palette to complete the picture. CONDITION: Condition is good with some loss at one end. |

There are sprays of flowers placed so there is a central spray surrounded by other ones on either side all on a red ground. The main border has a blue ground and the outer edge is the same red as the field. CONDITION: There is some shading probably due to traffic patterns, some fading and the fringes are low but this is still a good rug. Sarouk runners do not turn up every day. |
