SEMI-ANTIQUE NW PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4'9'' x 7'8'': This rug has a somewhat unusual black background in the field that makes the design elements really stand out. There are three central serrated edge diamond shaped medallions that run down the center of the field. On either side are found smaller similar medallions. Each of the medallions have various colors and inner motifs. The most interesting are the pinwheel motifs found in the central medallions. They are, like the serrated leaf and wine glass border, found in Caucasian rugs. This may be a Kurdish rug because they often take elements from rugs woven by other neighboring weavers.
CONDITION: Some visible wear.
