MROZEWSKI, Stefan, (Polish, 1894-1975): 5 Wood Cuts from The Dante's Inferno Series, 18.75'' x 14.5'' with margins, pencil signed, numbered, unframed. Mrozewski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and Krakow, later residing in Paris and Amsterdam where his art gained recognition. He illustrated M. Schwob's King with the Golden Mask. Mrozewski's subjects included religious themes, landscapes and portraits. He also illustrated books by Dante, Cervantes, Dostoyesky, Rilke, Villon, Schvog and others. Mrozewski emigrated to the United States in 1951. He is largely known for his wood engravings and several examples are included in The Library of Congress' permanent collection.
CONDITION: Varies according to print. Several prints have tears and missing paper in margins, scattered foxing and staining, tape removal will be required. Sold as is.
