St. Florian is the patron saint of firefighters, no visible signature. Overall measures 22 3/4'' h. x 10'' x 5 1/4''. Sold with a composite gilt decorated corbel wall mount, 17'' h. x 10 3/4'' x 7''.
CONDITION: Age split on back.

As a child, Young's mother gave him illustrated books with works of the Old Masters and this may have inspired his interest in art. He studied printmaking at Ringling School of Arts in Sarasota and then began working in watercolors. His work has been compared to Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth. Young may be the youngest living artist to have a watercolor sell at Christie's. 750

Strisik eventually lived in Rockport, Mass where he became known for his landscape painting. After serving in WWII in the Navy he studied at the Art Students League in New York City. Over the course of his career, he won 185 awards including 16 gold medals. He was very willing to share his talents with young artists and he wrote several books.
