APPROX. 40-65 YR OLD PERSIAN OR POSSIBLY CAUCASIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'3'' x 7': This charming rug has some design elements that make it seem like it was from Karaja or Heriz but the colors are not typical for rugs from this region. On the unusual white main field are geometric shaped medallions done in good clear colors that include turquoise, peachy yellow, light blue, brick red/orange, and pale green. The four corners of the field have stepped lines of demarcation with birds perched above them. The balance of the field has a variety of smaller motifs scattered over its surface. The wide blue/black main border has design motifs that, like the central medallions, are often found in Karaja rugs.
CONDITION: Condition is mostly good with small burn?, some loss on the ends and a small tear.
