Depicts a Young Girl Seated on an Ottoman Holding a Yellow Rose. Loaned to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts by Arthur Sargent. Pencil inscription on the stretcher verso which reads ''Painted by Jean Paul Selinger dated 1894''. Bearer's label from Museum of Fine Arts verso. Originally born John Paul, his wife preferred the French pronunciation and so he changed his name to Jean Paul. He painted the White Mountains, landscapes and many portraits.
