1001 Click for larger picture WARTHEN, Ferol Sibley, (American, 1890-1986): ''Sunrise'', Woodcut, sight size 21'' x 13'', 24.5'' x 15.25 with margins, pencil signed lower right, titled lower left and dated 1979, #4, exhibition label verso from Provincetown Printmakers Special Exhibition August-October at the Provincetown Heritage Museum, 1979, handwritten card reads ''one block method.watercolor.spoon rubbed-japanese paper each print unique'', framed, 28'' x 19.25''. Spending her summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts gave Warthen the opportunity to be part of the Provincetown Printers art colony. The colony was started in 1915 by B. J. O. Nordfeldt, and other artists who had fled Europe. Her white line woodcuts are done from a single block of wood, with each color done separately and applied in separate applications. This technique was passed on from Nordfeldt to Lazzell to Warthen.
CONDITION: Full margins, 2 creases in right margin running entire length of print, hinge mounted, good colors.

CONDITION: Wide margins, uncut, reverse taped/hinged at the top, several very minor spots, a 9/10.

Ship clad in bone panels, unmarked as to ships name. 3 mast with landing boat and dinghy, affixed to wood stand. Overall measures 18 3/4'' h. x 23 1/4'' x 3 3/4''.
CONDITION: In need of new rigging, several areas in need of repair, several panels have been replaced including aft panel, figurehead and center gallery.

Case appears to be stained pine, single weight controls both time and strike movement. Painted metal floral dial signed Henry Hahn, Reading on face. Overall measures 88'' h. x 19 1/2'' x 10''.
CONDITION: Top of case under bonnet slide has repair on left side, other wear to case consistent with age and use, minor flecks to dial, currently running however not guaranteed to continue.

1021 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35 YR. OLD TURKISH HAND KNOTTED SILK ON COTTON RUG, 5'6'' x 7'9'': A beautiful finely knotted carpet with a paneled design. The various panels, none of which repeat, have designs that range from a traditional prayer saph with a hanging lamp and columns to outdoor scenes with flowering trees at rivers edge, swans and ducks serenely swimming. The attention and amount of detail, the composition of colors and their placement, the balance and beauty of the complete rug let us know that this is the work of a master weaver. Semi-circular top with radiating design of Macassar and Ebony. Double pedestal plated base with cabinetry having drawers and doors also made of the exotic Macassar Ebony wood. Measures 2 1/2'h x 7' 1'' x 5 1/2' . Not wanting to pay the 1 Million+ price tag for an original by Ruhlmann being offered in a New York Gallery, Michael Egan, co-owner of Alamo Car Rentals, commissioned master cabinet makers Justo and Ernesto Escobar in Pompano Beach FL. to make this replication. Sources say $30,000 was paid just for the Macassar tree used to make this one-only Masterpiece and It is featured on their web site at http://www.escobarenterprise.com/welcome-1.html

Several piece marked with 20th Century Fox and inventory number. Overall measures 8' h. x 7'5'' x 74 1/4''. Interior measurement for mattress is 80'' x 69''.
CONDITION: Some missing inlay, chips, dings, evidence of prior wood worms, one support with crack repair, in need of restoration.

1044 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35 YR OLD PERSIAN OR INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 10' x 14': Red, black, and white are the primary colors used in this rug. The rich, velvety red field has a large medallion within a medallion in the center and a delicate design of various flowers, leaves, and vines traces around the center. The four corners of the field are white and black. Those and the black ground main border intensify the red of the main field. Condition is good.
CONDITION: Approx. 69.5 pounds

1045 Click for larger picture WHISTLER, James Abbott McNeill, (American, 1834-1903): ''Eagle Wharf'' , Etching, one of the Thames set, sight size 6'' x 8.5'', signed in the plate lower margin, framed, 12.5'' x 15'', H V Allison and Company label affixed verso. American born and British based, Whistler was all about ''art for art's sake''. His subtle delicate style was an interesting contrast to his outward persona which was not these things. Later in his career, Whistler began giving his art musically inspired titles and he attributed this influence to a musician friend. In the late 1870s, Whistler painted a portrait of his mother after a model did not show for an appointment. There were very mixed reactions to the austere portrait. At some point his mother began living with him giving him a more respectable appearance, making him more acceptable to patrons.
CONDITION: Not examined out of frame, print appears to have been cleaned, sold as is.

1045A Click for larger picture PENNELL, Joseph, (American, 1857-1926): ''Little Venice'', sight size 5.25'' x 9.5'', pencil signed lower right, Albert Schwartz label verso circa 1883, painted black frame, 14.5'' x18.25''. Pennell, born to Quaker parents, developed into a painter, illustrator, etcher, lecturer, critic, author, teacher. He was a pupil in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and his unusual ability in etching was recognized by his instructor. In 1881 he went to Europe to illustrate some of the Italian writings of W. D. Howells and subsequently received recognition from Philip Gilbert Hamerton. Pennell illustrated Hamerton's book on a tour along the river Seine and the fame from this earned him many commissions. Pennell's drawings and etchings were numerous and some critics viewed him as without peer in this medium. He did lithographs of the Panama Canal, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite. He won numerous awards for his work.
CONDITION: Toning around the margins, scattered spotting, not examined out of frame, sold as is.

1049 Click for larger picture SEMI-ANTIQUE, 50-85YRS OLD, PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'2'' x 12': An old rug that has good colors and an attractive design. This rug is still interesting even though it is quite worn in places. The tan colored field is covered with swirling curlicue vines in white accented with red that go in and out among green leaves, palmettes, and flowers. Blue and red guard borders surround the field and the main border that is one shade darker tan than the field. There is an inscription in one large blue and red flower found in the center of the main border at one end of the field.
CONDITION: This rug has areas of wear, especially in the field at one end. Approx. 53 pounds
