YOSHIDA, Hiroshi, (Japanese, 1876-1950): ''New Moon'', Japanese Woodblock Print, 11.5'' x 15.5'', signed lower right, titled lower left, seal in left margin, framed, 15'' x 20''. Yoshida was a leader in the new print movement (shin hanga) and was the only one to sign and title his work in English. He worked as a painter until his 40s when he became interested in woodblocks. He worked with Watanabe for a few years and became very involved in the printing process. Eventually he started his own print shop. Yoshida was an avid mountain climber and became known for his Alpine scenes.
