1028 Click for larger picture ROSSI, Alexander M. (Greece, 1840-1916): Young Seamstress in the Parlor, Oil/Canvas, sight size 38'' x 22.5'', signed lower right, pierced carved and gilded frame 44'' x 29''. Rossi exhibited over 60 works at the Royal Academy in London in the 1870's. Born in Corfu, his father was an Italian judge that presided over the Ionian Islands under British Rule.
CONDITION: Relined, needs cleaning, frame shows wear, sold as is.

1033 Click for larger picture RURAL VILLAGE SCENE WITH SHEEP ATTRIBUTED TO MICHAU: Oil/Wood, sight size 12.5'' x 18.5'', no visible signature, framed, 24'' x 30''. Needs cleaning, board has been repaired, frame shows some wear and loss, sold as is.
CONDITION: Laid down, scattered craquelure, several abrasions, several flecks of paint loss, frame shows wear, sold as is.

1038 Click for larger picture FINE 19TH CENTURY OIL PAINTING OF A GENTLEMAN IN TUXEDO AND BLACK TIE: Oil/Canvas, oval, 28.5'' x 23.75'', no visible signature but bears a similarity to a Ludwig Otto portrait that we sold from the same consignor's estate collection in 2015. Encased in 19th century gilded gesso oval frame, 37'' x 33.5''.
CONDITION: Stretcher bar wear, scattered craquelure, several abrasions and flecks throughout, several scattered pinholes, frame has spots of wear, in need of some repair. Sold as is.

1040 Click for larger picture QUIZET, Leon Alphonse, (French, 1885-1955): Canal Scene on a Sunny Day, Oil/Masonite, 10.5'' x 16.25'', signed lower right, gilded gesso frame, 17.25'' x 22.5'', Christies and Tajan labels affixed verso. Quizet was an important member of the school of Montmarte, referring to area of Montmartre versus the school of. The artists lived here before the war and tended to be Jewish immigrants who lived a Bohemian lifestyle. Quizet is linked to Utrillo, Leprin and Valtat.
CONDITION: Several minor flecks, frame shows some wear, sold as is.

CONDITION: Needs cleaning, restretching, several minor abrasions, stretcher bar wear, scattered pinhole punctures, sold as is.
