NICOLAIDES, Kimon, (American/French, 1892-1938): Nudes in a Landscape, Watercolor, 12.25'' x 9.5'', signed lower right, framed, 16.5'' x 13.5''. Nicolaides ran away from home to become an artist. He travelled to New York where he studied at the Art Students League with John Sloan and George Bridgman. During WWI, he became one of the first American camouflage artists and also worked on contour maps. He is well-known for developing a method of teaching drawing, which he shared in ''The Natural Way to Draw''. Provenance: Estate Collection of Christian Buchheit.
