PAUL, Gen, (French, 1895-1975): Cubist Clown, Oil/Canvas, 21.5'' x 13'', signed lower left and dated '50. Paul was a self-taught painter and engraver. He lost a leg during the first World War and settled in Paris to work and paint. He was influenced by his friends Vlaminck and Utrillo during his early works but later followed Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh, Cezanne and others. Provenance: Estate of Yves Georges Prade
