YOSHIDA, Hiroshi, (Japanese, 1876-1950): ''Fuji From Yoshida'', Woodblock, 10.25'' x 15.25'' with margins, pencil signed lower right, titled lower left, Jizuri seal in the left margin (self-printed), unframed. Yoshida was a leader in the new print movement (shin hanga) and was the only one to sign and title his work in English. He worked as a painter until his 40s when he became interested in woodblocks. He worked with Watanabe for a few years and became very involved in the printing process. Eventually he started his own print shop. Yoshida was an avid mountain climber and became known for his Alpine scenes.
CONDITION: Overall pale browning, tape stains in corners, overall even fading, upper right corner has been folded, sold as is.
