APPROX 30-40 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 11'5'' X 16'8'': There are inscriptions in cartouches at either end of rug. Although this is a palatial size rug it has the feel of a village or tribal piece with its lively colors and strong geometric patterns. There is a large central triple medallion design that rests on an ivory field. The parts at either end are diamond shaped in a medium blue with salmon red accents and the center lozenge shaped medallion is a darker blue outlined by salmon red borders that have abrash, or color change. The corners and zig-zagged sides of the field are done in the same salmon red. Besides stylized flowers and birds that are found here and there, there are little goats in the small midnight blue corners of the field. A charming rug that would be a dynamic addition to any home.
