APPROX 50-75 YR OLD PERSIAN LILLIHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 9'2'' X 11'8'': This neat old-timer has the look of a white ground Sarouk, but is a Lillihan, which is both attractive and durable. There are four vases of flowers that run down the center of the field. Flowers spring from them and surround them. An interesting feature of this rug are the vases of flowers that are found going all the way around in the borders of the rug. CONDITION: Condition is good for its age. Sides need a little attention. |

SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED SILK RUG, 3'7'' X 5'1'': This lovely, unusual rug was used for many years as a wall hanging and I think that is still its best use. The central round medallion in ivory, dark and medium blue, beige, and peach has an intricate curvilinear shaped design. The corners of the field are like quarters of the central medallion. The rest of the field has the usual leaves, palmettes, and flowers and some unusual motifs that can best be described as pairs of white with blue asparagus stems! Another interesting feature is in the main border of the rug where sections of the design resemble an aerial view of a neighborhood but I think were meant to be like ''Kufic'' or false writings. Three guard borders are on each side of the main border and lastly there is a wide solid color border with a stylized boteh motif repeating around the edge of the rug. CONDITION: Since this rug has been hung on a wall for many years the one end is damaged along with the sides near that end. There is lots of shading and the rug is a little dry in some areas but it is still an interesting collectors piece. |

18K MERRIN CUFFLINKS AND STUDS: This 5-piece suite is handsome and simple in yellow gold with asymmetrical bars framing a black star sapphire. Pair of cufflinks marked 18K and Merrin feature 6.5mm black star sapphire with total weight of 13.5 grams. 3 sliding shirt studs are marked Merrin and 18k on the back of the front facing design that also features black star sapphires. The shanks are stamped 14k. Total weight of studs is 7.6 grams. Joseph Merrin moved to America from Ukraine as a teenager in 1917. He began working as a jewelers apprentice that year, and he opened his own store in 1927. In 1975, he made his move to the famed Fifth Avenue. SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN LILLIHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUNNER, 2'10'' X 10'1'': This Lillihan has a repeating design that is also used on Sarouk rugs. An open ''medallion'' made up of sprays of flowers that curve around a central small flower that also has flowers coming out from it done in colors that include white, dark blue, green, pink, and pale blue is repeated the length of the runner. The deep salmon red of the field Is a perfect background for the floral design. This is a durable, yet attractive rug that could be used with Sarouks. CONDITION: Condition is good for its age with some wear, fringes mostly gone. |
