1011 Click for larger picture SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN KASHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5' X 7': This very finely woven rug shows a real artistry in the use of colors with a well-drawn design. The dark blue oval central medallion has spandrels at each end and palmettes on each side. The medallion really stands out on the red field because of the white and yellow outlining which is also used to define the corners of the field. The rest of the field is covered with sprays of flowers linked to leaves, palmettes, and larger single flowers by sinuous vines. The many shades of blue borders do a beautiful job of completing this lovely rug. This rug was given an appraised value of $12,000 in the 1990's.
CONDITION: This rug is in very good condition.
1012 Click for larger picture APPROX 35-55 YR OLD PERSIAN KASHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4'7''X 7'1'': This good-looking Kashan rug is finely knotted with a beautiful design and well-chosen colors. Also, it has signature cartouches at each end signifying the maker Vehaden? and the point of origin, Kashan, Persia (Iran). The large central medallion has a red outer area around a white and pale blue center. The red, white, and blue corners of the field are like quarters of the central medallion. The field is covered with mostly individual flowers, some small sprays, some linked by vines. These motifs really stand out on the deep blue field. A wide red ground main border is flanked by pale blue and white guard borders. This rug was appraised at $10,500 several years ago!
CONDITION: This rug is in very good condition.
1013 Click for larger picture APPROX 15-35 YR OLD PAKISTANI PERSIAN KASHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'2'' X 10'5'': This fine, quality rug has a red field with a large blue central medallion, matching corners and main border also in blue. Larger clusters of flowers or palmettes outline and circle around the medallion. Smaller flowers and leaves fill in around them. Both the guard borders and the main border give the impression that they are red, white, and blue because of the size of some of the motifs in them, but the main border has a blue ground, the guard borders, white or medium blue. This is a beautifully made, well balanced in design and colors rug. Originally appraised at $8,995 in the nineties.
CONDITION: This rug is in good condition.
1027 Click for larger picture APPROX 20-45 YR OLD PAKISTANI PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4'3'' X 7'5'': This attractive rug has a fine weave that allowed the makers to create a very detailed, intricate pattern. The large red ground around a white ground central medallion is outlined in white on the dark blue field. The field itself looks like a gigantic medallion due to the white outer edge of the field. All parts of the field are covered with a very intricate repeating Herati design that flows from one color ground to another to the blue corners. A wide red ground main border is flanked by white and blue guard borders.
CONDITION: Condition is good with some slight soil, stains.
1039 Click for larger picture ANTIQUE PERSIAN KERMAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 12' X 16': This beautiful antique Persian rug has a deep blue field that is covered with a well-drawn design of leaves, flowers, and palmettes linked by vines. The salmon red, gold, and medium blue motifs on the deep blue of the field look like a richly colored stained-glass window. The main salmon colored border has a very archaic design with a vine that runs alongside the outer edge of the border and then up into the middle with flowers above and below it. There are two inner guard borders in blues and salmon and an old gold outer guard border.
CONDITION: There are some areas of visible wear and newer fringes but not bad for its age.
1044 Click for larger picture APPROX 15-35 YR OLD PAKISTANI PERSIAN TABRIZ HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 9'1'' X 13': This well thought out and beautifully executed Pakistani Persian rug has a red with inner white central medallion with spandrels at either end all resting on a deep blue field. The red, white, and pale blue corners, guard, and main borders really create a lovely frame for the field. All the flowers, leaves, and vines that cover the field and medallion give an impression of lightness and whiteness although red and light blue colors are also presenting the motifs. This attractive rug was valued at $14,980 in the nineties.
CONDITION: This rug is in good condition.
1046 Click for larger picture INDO-PERSIAN WOOL RUNNER, 3' X 10': Two main patterns alternate down the field of this runner. One with large flowers that form a circle around a central flower head and one with palmettes that are placed facing in then out on the sides to form a more horizontal motif. The black main border and the peach guard borders finish the design of this runner. The burgundy colored field has abrash or color change to red at one end of the runner.
CONDITION: Condition is good but could benefit from a cleaning.
1068 Click for larger picture APPROX 50-75 YR OLD PERSIAN LILLIHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 9'2'' X 11'8'': This neat old-timer has the look of a white ground Sarouk, but is a Lillihan, which is both attractive and durable. There are four vases of flowers that run down the center of the field. Flowers spring from them and surround them. An interesting feature of this rug are the vases of flowers that are found going all the way around in the borders of the rug.
CONDITION: Condition is good for its age. Sides need a little attention.
1072 Click for larger picture APPROX 20-35 YR OLD INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUNNER, 2'1'' X 10'1'': This runner has a red ground field that is covered with a small repeating pattern composed primarily of palmettes and flower heads. The motifs light colors, mainly white and pale blue, really stand out on the deep red field and are further accented by the white main border with its peach and blue guard borders.
CONDITION: This rug is in good condition.
1079 Click for larger picture SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED SILK RUG, 3'7'' X 5'1'': This lovely, unusual rug was used for many years as a wall hanging and I think that is still its best use. The central round medallion in ivory, dark and medium blue, beige, and peach has an intricate curvilinear shaped design. The corners of the field are like quarters of the central medallion. The rest of the field has the usual leaves, palmettes, and flowers and some unusual motifs that can best be described as pairs of white with blue asparagus stems! Another interesting feature is in the main border of the rug where sections of the design resemble an aerial view of a neighborhood but I think were meant to be like ''Kufic'' or false writings. Three guard borders are on each side of the main border and lastly there is a wide solid color border with a stylized boteh motif repeating around the edge of the rug. Est. $600/900**
CONDITION: Since this rug has been hung on a wall for many years the one end is damaged along with the sides near that end. There is lots of shading and the rug is a little dry in some areas but it is still an interesting collectors piece.

At the base, there is also a peacock and a stork? standing on either side of the tree trunk and the vases of flowers that are on each side. In the border are panels with animals, birds, houses, and pastoral scenes alternating with more flowers.
