PAIR 19TH CENTURY JAPANESE POLYCHROME FLOOR VASES: Circa 19th century palace floor vases on stands, white glaze ground, applied handles. Polychrome decoration to include floral rim, neck with pine branches in medallions, body with eagle over crashing waves on one side, pine branches other side and pinwheels, flared foot with foliate motifs. No visible marks or stamps, overall measures 30 1/2'' h. x 17 1/2''. Sold with 4'' h. wood bases. Purchased by a Army Commander in the 1940's/1950's and shipped to America.
CONDITION: Noticeable paint flake and loss on both.
