1209A | SEMI-ANITQUE TURKISH HEREKE ''SEVEN MOUNTAIN FLOWER'' DESIGN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 6'7'' x 9'4'': The lovely floral design of this rug, known as the Seven Mountain Flower is a pattern that was developed in the Sultan's workshop in Hereke, which is about fifty miles from Istanbul. The pattern was created to represent the seven hills the city of Istanbul was built on. Originally the workshop made rugs exclusively for the Sultans use but in later years rugs became available to the public. This blue ground rug covered with a profusion of flowers is in the design the Sultans revered.

1265 | APPROX 20-45 YR OLD TURKISH HAND KNOTTED ALL WOOL RUG, 3'5'' X 4'10'': This lively rug has a red/rust field that is divided by gold and blue barber pole design wide lines into six panels, each with a shield like central medallion. Each medallion is done in a combination of colors with medium blue and white predominating and red/rust, yellow, dark blue, and brown filling in the motifs and latch hooks on the edges. Four of the panels have birds placed in the corners around the medallions. The wide white border with its ribbon like design that is created by crab like motifs adds even more interest to the overall look of the rug. CONDITION: This rug is in good condition. |
