SEMI-ANITQUE TURKISH HEREKE ''SEVEN MOUNTAIN FLOWER'' DESIGN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 6'7'' x 9'4'': The lovely floral design of this rug, known as the Seven Mountain Flower is a pattern that was developed in the Sultan's workshop in Hereke, which is about fifty miles from Istanbul. The pattern was created to represent the seven hills the city of Istanbul was built on. Originally the workshop made rugs exclusively for the Sultans use but in later years rugs became available to the public. This blue ground rug covered with a profusion of flowers is in the design the Sultans revered.
