SEMI-ANITQUE TURKISH HEREKE ''SEVEN MOUNTAIN FLOWER'' DESIGN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 6'7'' x 9'4'': The lovely floral design of this rug, known as the Seven Mountain Flower is a pattern that was developed in the Sultan's workshop in Hereke, which is about fifty miles from Istanbul. The pattern was created to represent the seven hills the city of Istanbul was built on. Originally the workshop made rugs exclusively for the Sultans use but in later years rugs became available to the public. This blue ground rug covered with a profusion of flowers is in the design the Sultans revered. CONDITION: Good for age. |

APPROX 30-50 YR OLD PERSIAN QUM FINELY KNOTTED SMALL FRAMED SILK RUG 20'' x 24'': Approx 30-50 yr old Persian Qum finely knotted small framed silk rug . This Qum is incredibly finely woven in an intricate classic prayer rug format. The white ground of the Mihrab or niche has a vase of flowers at the middle base of it with vines that have sprays of flowers and leaves that fill in around the central bouquet. Atop the bouquet is a fan like flower holding leaves and vines that create the look of a crown. Above that are vines, some forming a ''cloud band'' design. St the top and sides of the niche the field is pale green, filled with flowers and vines. There are pale green guard borders and a deep red main border that picks up on the red flowers in the field. Each end has an extra border design woven in silk and gold thread in a raised pattern on a flat background. This and the signature cartouche are extra details that speaks to the quality of this gem of a rug. Framed measures 39 1/2'' x 30 1/4'' CONDITION: Good, not examined out of frame. |

20-40 YEAR OLD PERSIAN QUM HAND KNOTTED SMALL PRAYER RUG, 21 1/4'' x 18 3/4'': This is one of the most finely knotted rugs I have ever seen, with an equally beautiful use of colors and design. The blue ground Mihrab, (or prayer niche), is outlined in red and white that becomes elaborate columns. In the center are birds on top of a flowering bush. Above them is a hanging lamp that looks like an upside down vase of flowers. Vines that come out and go down either side of the Mihrab have clusters of grapes that further decorate the field. A signature cartouche is found at the top of the field in the center of the first guard border. The light colored guard borders flanking the red ground main border are only on three sides of the rug. I believe the rug is complete as seen, a jewel of the first order. Framed measures 28'' x 28 1/2''. CONDITION: There are four small spots that were affixed to glass with glue. This may be removed by a professional. This rug originally cost several thousands of dollars. |

The Russian-born French artist Romain de Tirtoff, also known as Erte (born in November 1892), designed the bottles of this limited edition. The visuals present the 7 steps of cognac making.
