Painted by none other than the father of the ''First Family of Art'', Americo Makk. Makk was born in Hungary in 1927 with his formal art training beginning at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art in Budapest and then to study at Academy of Fine Art in Rome he met his future wife, Eva, a fellow artist at the academy. Signed lower left, signed and titled verso, 30'' x 24'', framed 38.50'' x 32.50''. Purchased for $6,800 in 1983. Appraised for $22,000.00 in 1990. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Art in Paris, Eva moved to Italy to continue her formal art studies at the Academy of Fine Art in Rome. It was there that she met her future husband, fellow artist Americo Makk. The couple moved to Brazil in 1949. Eva and Americo Makk received appointments as Professors of Art at Sao Paulo Academy of Fine Art and later were named Official Artists of the Brazilian Government. Today the Makk Family is known as ''The First Family of Art''. Sold with COA.

Makk, son of Americo Makk Sr, father of the ''First Family of Art'', This Makk painting was purchased for $3,800 in 1983. Appraised for $15,000.00 in 1990. Sold with COA. Americo Bartholomew Makk was exhibiting by age five and was called ''the little Picasso'' for his then cubist-style works. His manipulation of light to express beauty and dignity are among the qualities that have moved A.B. Makk into the forefront of notable contemporary artists. Makk studied at the Hungarian National Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and went on to instruct at the Rome Academy of Fine Art. Makk moved to Hawaii in 1967. His notable paintings include historical and ecclesiastical portraits and murals, including portraits of United States Presidents as well as notable figures Edward Teller, Eva Gabor, Barbara Sinatra, Ray Price, Barbara Carrera, and more.
CONDITION: Some scattered craquelure. COA and appraisal in office.
