MAHOGANY BONNET TOP CHEST-ON-CHEST: Circa 1770, American. Originally owned by a family in Augusta, Georgia. Nice drawers, carved fan and finial, and ogee foot base. The piece survived the Augusta, Georgia, flood in which the crotch mahogany veneer in base portion was lost. Secret drawer at top center was loaded with Confederate bank notes when Benfield's acquired it. Approx. 85'' h x 38'' l x 22'' w. Provenance: Benfield Museum Collection.
