TROUILLEBERT, Paul Desiree, (French, 1829-1900): Panoramic Pastoral Marsh with Punts, Watercolor, sight size 12.5'' x 24.5'', signed lower left, period carved gilded gesso frame, 23.25'' x 35.25''. Trouillebert focused on portraits until 1881 when he began to shift to landscapes and eventually became recognized as a landscape painter as well. There was a continuous demand for his work which was acquired in some of the most prominent art collections including that of Edgar Degas.
CONDITION: Several spots of water staining, visible discoloration from the wood backing verso with a vertical brown line extending from the bottom to the top. Several other scattered stains, not examined out of frame, frame has missing gesso, sold as is.
