1006 Click for larger picture DUBUCAND, Alfred, (French, 1828-1894): Orientalist Bronze Group ''Chasse A La Gazelle Au Guepard Perse'', 22'' h., 8'' d., 16.5'' w. The naturalistic base with inscribed signature has a bronze plaque affixed with titled in French that depicts the cheetah chasing down the gazelle with the Hunter watching on. Dubucand was a pupil of Lequien and Barye and exhibited regularly at the French Salons between 1867 and 1883. Dubucand was a prolific animalier sculptor and an impressively realistic modeller. Works ranged from Orientalist subjects of North African hunting groups to birds, dogs and wildlife.
CONDITION: Rifle barrel bent, several scattered spots of loss to patina.

In 1927 the Brangwyn Portfolio was published by E F d'Alignan and Paul Turpin. These lithographic reproductions of watercolours, pastels and drawings produced by photomechanical means to which Brangwyn and his assistants added chalk or watercolour through stencils, giving the impression of original works. Works are various sizes, tipped to backing which measures 23.5'' x 18''.
CONDITION: All prints are in generally good condition, several are not securely tipped, and several do show signs of toning. These prints appear to never have been framed.
