PAIR OF MAJOLICA WINE CASKS WITH MEDICI COAT OF ARMS: Pair of tin enameled earthenware casks, having the Medici's and Della Rovere's coat-of arms, the latest for the Dukes of Urbino branch. They recall the marriage of the Grand-duke Ferdinando II, born in Florence born on July 4th, 1610, son of Cosimo II Medici and of Maddelena, daughter of Arch-duke Carlo d' Austria. Ferdinando II married in 1634 to Vittoria Della Rovere, daughter of Prince Ubaldo d' Urbino, latest of Della Rovere's family. Both resided in the Museum of Fine Arts. Largest approx. 49'' h x 37'' w.
