JON H. PUGH 19TH CENTURY SCRIMSHAW POWDER HORN: Early 19th Century scrimshaw decorated powder horn bearing the name Jon H. Pugh and dated 1804 inside a scrimshaw cartouche and on the reverse with a scrimshaw American eagle coat of arms. Provenance: Estate of a New York Gentleman. John Pugh (June 2, 1761- July 13, 1842) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania 1800-1804. He briefly served in the American Revolutionary War as a captain in the Pennsylvania militia. Pugh was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Ninth and Tenth Congresses. He was register of wills and recorder of deeds of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, from 1810 to 1821. He died in Doylestown.
