BUNDY, John Elwood, (American, 1853-1933): Autumnal landscape, O/C, 16'' x 20'', signed lower right, encased in period gilded molding, overall 19 1/4'' x 23 1/4''. Condition - Eraser size portion of paint loss in lower left corner, sporadic pin point spots of paint loss throughout, unsettling of paint in lower to mid right margin, sporadic unusual fluorescence - not believed to be in-paint but rather a different pigment, signature reinforced.Elwood studied with Barton Hays, member of the Richmond Art Assoc., Hoosier Salon, exhibited at the Art Inst. of Chicago, Herron, among many others. This scene is amongst his specialties. He was a significant figure in the Indiana art world of the late 1800's. Not only a painter but an instructor. (Falk)
