
MASSACHUSETTS SAMPLER DATED 1806: Worked by ''Phila Aldrich born in Umbridge September the 8 1792 her sampler made August 1806. Silk petit point on fine gauze, sometimes referred to as tiffany cloth, using both cross and tent stitch. Dividing bands using a variety of stitches. Vivid shades of green, red, yellow, brown, black, teal and tan. Alphabet in upper case script and arabic. One row of lower case alphabet and numbers 1 to 4. Lower portion with a green knoll and a variety of flowering plants and strawberries. The whole being in excellent condition. Sight size 9'' x 12 1/2'', framed under glass, 14 1/2'' x 11'' overall.
