Centering a tomb with square plinth, topped with large urn. The inscription reads: ''To The memory of Washington, born feb 12th, 1732, Died Dec the 14th 1800. The year of death is incorrect which adds to the charm of the sampler. All-over pattern of various large flowers and leaves which forms the wide border. there is some loss of linen fabric, namely at the bottom. Has been stitched to a background fabric in order to stabilize the sampler. Josephine Wolf is a descendent of a John Wolf who was an aide to General Washington during the revolutionary war. Sight size 17'' x 17''. Framed under glass, 21'' x 21'' overall.
