HAVELL Jr., Robert, (American, 1793-1878): ''Niagara Falls,'' OIL/C, 29'' x 40'', unframed. The viewing tower in the very left of the picture was erected in 1868 on Prospect Point. The smaller tower in the center was called Terrapin Tower. It was torn down in 1873. This pictured was likely painted between these two dates. Professionally restored by Ted Nightwine, relined, sporadic inpaint and cracklure. From the collection of a direct descendant.
