SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 3'2'' x 5'3'': This Persian prayer rug has a beautiful design with two and two half columns dividing the Mihrab the field into three panels. On either side of the columns are vases of flowers with chandeliers above them and in the central part of the Mihrab or field are two small paisleys or botehs above a large teardrop that has a spandrel hanging below it. Inside the teardrop are two peacocks in pale blue facing each other. The central cream ground is bordered at each end with a burgundy colored field. At the top are found two more peacocks and at the bottom are four vases on stands. Flowers stream from the vases to form the dividing line between the cream and burgundy sections of the mihrab. This is a very well drawn, attractive rug. Condition is good.
