COLT LIGHTNING LARGE FRAME EXPRESS RIFLE: The most desirable of the Colt Lightning pump action rifles; this large frame example has a 45-85-285 caliber 28'' octagon barrel. Only 6,496 of these rifles were produced, this is serial number 1574. 2 line colt address on top of rapid tapered barrel with last patent date of '87. Nickel plated Schuetzen buttplate on walnut stock. Areas of original case color remain in protected areas, balance of finish mottled between plum brown and grey. Action works fine, clean bore.
CONDITION: Loss of nickel plate on butt, minor pitting and age stains. Burchard Galleries does not recommend firing ANY antique weapon regardless of condition.
